| OK, kinda a basic question: I know quite a bit about networking but what I don't understand about services such as bittorrent is just why doesnt it go faster? the capability is there, I will share a file with my 4mbs/256kbs cable line and i don't set any limit on the upload so why isn't my computer uploading any faster than 30kbs. I know this happens on most lines (my friends bittorent only uploads at like 15kbs). I also know you will say overhead and other things using the line are at fault but really it should at least be able to upload at least at 150kbs I have tested my line speed (at dslreports.com) and I actually get a higher than expected speed after all that jabber do you have any light to shed on the issue? |

| Newb Techie | You need to understand how bittorrent works, I suggest googling it or just searching this forum, your asking an ages old question. Your not going your full download because the seeders of the file or peers you are getting data from also have a slow upload like yourself, its not like you kids and your kazaa. Your router may not have the correct ports fowareded or your ISP may throttle certain ports known as common to BT. |

I have already changed the Azerus port to a random port not assigned by the default of the program and opened the port in my router (If you really want to know its something like 49229. It is not the issue. Nothing on my end is throttling the connection I still don't see why I only seed at 30kbs per file. | |
