Question The Best Setup ?

My router (Linksys WAG54GS) has just died on me (think it overheated) and i was wondering what the best new setup would be.

Would it be best to get a modem and a router as seprates Or just a modem /router in one?

If its seprates is this a good router Netgear WNR854T ?
Does anyone know a good ADSL modem ???

Thankz

Rob

I would suggest a router with a firewall built in to it. I know the Verizon modems are now coming with built in routers. But the modem is provided by your ISP. So if you bought a new modem you would have to get it registered with them and pay for another line to the house.

Netgear is alright. I have heard great thigns from Cisco routers. (Formerly Linksys) I personally use a DLink and love it.

In the past, I haven't been to friendly toward Netgear's products. They built this particular model from the ground up, it's completely different than a lot of their other products. I'm pretty sure that this model is the one with the internal antenna right? It's been around for while and seem to be one of the best gigabit LAN/Draft N WLANs around. It also checks for it's own updates! Thats a plus with any device.

I would suggest getting router & modem separatly.... If for any reason, you deciede to switch to cable service, you would have to buy a new one if it was integrated.... If they are separate, all you need is a cable modem.
