Default basic question

I have a modem/router in my dads room. I run an Ethernet cable back to my room into my computer. Can I just put a router on the end of the Ethernet cable and then to my pc, daisy chain style?

If the router has multiple ports on it (an embedded switch), all you need to do is run the cable to your room.

If it doesn't, you should look at getting a switch, plug the modem into the router, then the router into the switch. Then run a cable to your computer and your dad's computer.

Yes, it will work. You just need to turn off DHCP on the second router. Also, it is preferred to plug the cable in the the same port on both routers, 1 to 1, 2 to 2, etc.
