Angry Bandwidth Speed Problems.

I have DSL and my ISP is yahoosbc. I have done several speedtests.

http://www.speedtest.net/result/286490844.png

helpme.att.net/speedtest/ (my ISP's speed tester) says that i have 638kpbs download speed and ~300kbps upload speed.

I have just started to wonder about my bandwidth speed so I was looking up a few tweaks at TweakXP.com - Windows XP Tweaks, Tips, Hacks, Visual Styles, Support, and Software, and they suggested to disable a few protocols, before I did this, my download speed on "Maple Story Setup" was 40kb/s. Now after I disabled some protocols, my download speed is 80-100kbps

I still think it should be at about ~600kbps, I contacted my ISP's tech support today and the original tech support person said they found a problem in my lines, but couldn't do anything about it and had to contact the lines people. The lines people called me back but said that there were no problems detected. Is there anything I can do to get my moneys worth of bandwidth before I decided to get a new ISP.

feel free to contact me about this problem

Default Re: Bandwidth Speed Problems.

Well, it looks like you are fine.... for a 768k DSL connection (which I presume is what you have.... you listed the speed test results, but failed to mention which 'speed package' you have....).

The speed test would be 768kbps.... the max download speed on that would be about 96kBps.

Speed test is listed in kilobits, your downloads usually report KiloBYTES. There are 8 bits in 1 byte. So, according to the math, you have no problem at all, provided that 768k is the CORRECT DSL speed you are ordering. If you are ordering 1.5 Meg, or 3.0 Meg service, and only getting 768k, then YEAH, that would be a problem. If that is the case, the ISP SHOULD be able to tell you what the reason for the lower speed is, likely due to loop line length....
