| What site is it. Some have much slower download rates than others. Try doing a speedtest at www.testmy.net.

| To be honest if your getting these speeds throughout, take a good look at the firewall you are using, even revert to the built in XP one just to check. Best way to get a real indication of you download capabilities is to download one of these files from here .... http://www.microsoft.com/windows/win...tShowcase.aspx Fast Microsoft servers and quite large file sizes, you should be clearing 850KB a sec on that connection by the time it settles down, Im on an 8MB ADSL link but obviously with that you get more overheads that cable does so mine averages around 850bk a sec, you should get something around the 950kb a sec mark I would say. |

| Well i started the downlod (in FFox's download thingy) and it started at around 90kb/sec but kept going down to around 50. The only firewall i have is Black Ice but i could swich to a Sygate one i have on CD, which ever is better. Im on Win 2k so no built in Firewall any other ideas?

| it could also be that many people in the same subnetwork you belong to are downloading at the same time. the thing with cable is that despite the high speeds, they can vary because it shares the line with everyone else in the same backbone that has cable internet. then again, it could be the website's upload speeds that are low. does it happen on other downloads? |
