Default Anyone have Comcast?

I go thru comcast for my internet and have 3 pc set up in my office. I need to move one out into the living room, and dont really want to go wireless. So I was wondering if I could hook up a second modem in the living room to run the lone pc out there and use the other to keep running the 2 in the office. Would there be a prob with this set up?

You can't setup another modem b/c there would be IP conflicts... However you can run an ethernet cable to the livingroom. Run it along the walls in the crack of the carpet. That would be the easiest way if you do not want to go wireless.

Actually, you can do this. But you would be charged another new service fee. It's much cheaper to run another line or go wireless.

If you don't feel like laying networking cable or going wireless, you can look into power-line networking. It's usually about $40 to $50 for a kit. It runs about 14MBps. So if you have lead walls, no phone, cable, or networking jacks, and need an alternative- there it is .

And CompUSA has Netgear XE102 HomePlug to Ethernet adaptors for $25 after rebate (if you live in the U.S.) You'll need two adapters, one plugged into the router and one plugged into the PC.
