Default 2 computers networked games

I have a network that connects together 2 PC's and i wouild like to be able to play games over my LAN and the internet. I can do this for certain games. Is there a way to always be able to get it to work e.g a piece of software that allows u to access one PC's files and play together over a network.

I've never messed around with Microsoft's internet connection sharing. I always recommend a DSL/Cable router. The router connects to your DSL modem and the PCs connect to it. That way, you don't have to have your PC on just so your mate can use the internet.

As far as the file sharing part goes, that's a long story. Do a search here and in google on file sharing between <your operating system here> and <the other operating system there>. Even sharing between Windows XP Pro and Windows XP Home can be a challenge.

Both computers are mine. I do not need to use the internet on the other computer apart from when i play games over the internet. Both PC's are on XP Professional and the network works absolutely fine.

I guess I just don't understand the question. What isn't working then? What is it that you are trying to accomplish then. Why doesn't file sharing and mapping a shared folder as a drive on your second PC do the job? I'm missing something here.
