Default Xubuntu, installing xfce without the CD

I'm using xubuntu on an old PC. I've installed it with the Alternate CD, but it only installed terminal. I need to install xfce but when I do apt-get install xubuntu-desktop, it tells me to insert the CD. I insert the CD, it copies some files, both from online and from CD, then it gives me a bunch of CD errors and says that the md5 check failed, along with some sector read errors or something. Is there a way to disable the use of the CD for a package source and just download everything from the Internet?

sudo apt-get install jed

Now, sudo jed /etc/apt/sources.list and take out all lines starting "deb cdrom".

Now that it's installed, it insists on loading the window at like 320x240 or around there. The mouse pointer takes up half the screen and no desktop loads. I used startx to run it. How do I fix this?

Post your /etc/X11/xorg.conf here.

How can I get it off of the PC? The PC has an Internet connection and is on a LAN with Windows PC's. I could try a floppy disk as well. I'll post it if and when I can get it off of the PC.

Here it is:

# This file was generated by dexconf, the Debian X Configuration tool, using
# values from the debconf database.
#
# Edit this file with caution, and see the /etc/X11/xorg.conf manual page.
# (Type "man /etc/X11/xorg.conf" at the shell prompt.)

# if it has not been modified since the last upgrade of the xserver-xorg
# package.
#
# If you have edited this file but would like it to be automatically updated

# sudo dpkg-reconfigure -phigh xserver-xorg

The PC has a Diamond Stealth II graphics board, chipset is Verite 2100 I think. I only use a mouse and a standard keyboard, the monitor is an HP Pavilion mx75 flat screen CRT that supports up to 1280x1024 60Hz, but I set it to only go to 1024x768 for now.
