Default XServer crashes

i booted redhat 9 installation through a floppy disk. Anaconda was able to load and run until it crashed at the file system format stage.

those redhat 9 installation cds worked fine if you booted the installation through redhat9 cd1.

why did that happen?

Possible boot floppy didnt have right vid driver to handle vid card it found?Dunno for sure. They usually use a pretty generic xconfig for that kinda thing.

Well other than a custom boot disk, no. As I recall it should default to a text install which really isnt bad to deal with is it?

The other thing is it failing at file system format stage, that shouldnt happen, and has me puzzled, without seeing it I havent a clue how to deal with it.

I dunno, I had some issues with redhat 7 and switched to slackware and have been very very happy with it.Ive heard RH 9 and up is better, havent tried it.
