Default wire or wireless "this is the question"

ok i have a old k6 AMD im putting linux on it runs fine. know i have some pci slot open. one right know has a kinston network card in it. and i would have to buy a long *** wire to have internet. know my question is would it be better to use a wireless card or should i just stick with wire and just buy or make the cat 5 cable. i dont know if the newer wireless card would support this computer. my other computer is using linksys speedboost wireless card G. i dont know if it will work but you guys tell me.

it depends on how far away you are from the router. If less than 50 feet get some cat5. If more go WiFi.

EB games has 50ft of Cat5 for only $9.99, what a steal! It is by the PC games section.

Linux doesn't like wireless at all. It took me ages to get it to work.

PCI cards don't play nice with Linux.
You could always look into NDISWrapper.

Yeah I used Ndiswrapper. It worked OK but not great. I couldn't get WEP to work either. I just use a trusty wire now.
