Hey Lea0001,

Here is how you dual boot a PC, even if you don't choose ubuntu it is a good guide, it gives you the general Idea

Installing Windows

Installing Linux (ubuntu in this case, you can change to another distro if you prefer)

No the registry is not Shared @ all, 2 compleatly Different OSs. It is better if you can start from scratch compleatly Just backup all the files on your windows System you want to keep.

As for your Server connection, try this Link for ezproxy see if it is what you want

to create a server a distribution specifically catered for the job is reccomended, I'd use ATMission

http://www.atconsultancy.nl/atmission/

to check out some others

hope this helps,

Alternatively if you want to run linux from within windows download cgywin. It is a unix style emulator for windows. Make sure you install the X tools then use the command "startx" to start the cygwin Xserver within your windows environment. Then ssh into your linux machine using the command: "ssh <address> -X" where <address> is replaced with the IP address/hostname of the linux machine. The -X tells it to forward all graphical stuff to the machine you are on.

next type "kde &" (assuming you are using KDE) and you'll see your linux desktop appear on your windows machine, allowing you to use both windows and linux at the same time.
