Default Will My Computer Support Minecraft?

I am using Ubuntu 11.10, and the only information I can grab off of it is:

    CPU: Intel® Atom™ CPU N450 @ 1.66GHz × 2
    RAM: 2GiB
    OS Type: 32 bit

    Can I support Minecraft?

You still need some kind of graphics card do you not?

My brother has i3, integrated graphics and 3 gig ram running windows 7. Granted its a laptop but all the specs are better than the information given by theopfor and my brother can barely play minecraft on the lowest settings (terrible framerates etc.)

He probably has too much in the background running that is eating up you RAM.

unless windows is using up all the ram, then no, he never has any programs running while playing

Opening up task messenger and looking at what is running can show you what is hogging it. Processes, Performance tabs.

I meant background apps, ones you don't see on the desktop. Or voluntary clicked on. It's probably running apps he's not aware of.

Are any of them taking up a large amount of RAM or CPU percentage? A lot of them stay idle until needed.

yeah he just ended one and he had to restart his computer, he is only using 1gig ram so there is still two gig left for minecraft so i dont think thats holding him back. Must just be the integrated graphics. I thought integrated would at least support minecraft on lowest settings

Does this happen in single player or multiplayer?

It may be a combination of the CPU as well as the GPU.

How much of the CPU/RAM is it using up when you have MC up and running?
