Default Wierd linux problem

I have openSuSe 10.2 and I have an AMD Athlon XP 2000+ which, at default is 1.6GHz but whenever I overclock it to 1.9Ghz or over, it identifies it as a 2600+ in sysinfo! Any idea what could cause this? Also, when I go from lets say 1.87Ghz to 1.9Ghz there is a super big performance increase.

Here is some more info:

384mb RAM
80Gb Hard Drive
GeForce4 MX 4000

If you need anymore info let me know.

Athlon XP's did that. I think the chipset identified the CPU type by it's clock speed. I just checked on my Athlon XP 2700+ I have at work, here and it does the same thing. I overclocked it to "3000+" yet it is just a 2700+.

I'm using Windows, and it said that when I right-clicked on My Computer and went to Properties.
