Default Why won't Linux recognize any of my Toshiba drivs

I have a Toshiba Satillite A300 and I installed Ubuntu, however it will not recognize any usb ports or the wireless card and if I do connect it to an etherenet port is there a site I can get all the drivers updated or do I need the Toshiba Recover Disk?

The Toshiba Recovery CD won't help you, considering that'll have the Windows side of drivers and whatnot.

What version of Ubuntu are you trying to install, exactly? I did a search of your laptop and found that USB ports were tested in Hardy and no errors were mentioned... so I can't imagine Intrepid and Jaunty didn't have similar results.

What USB devices are you trying out? Have you verified they work on that laptop in Windows?

Connect the usb drive and type "sudo lsusb" and check if your drives are recognized.

What is the most common program file extension e.g .dmg for Mac and what programs do I use and locate them to open them, also which program would be a better program to use than iTunes to sync my music and watch all format dvds?

Depends what distribution it really depends on that, but for media management VLC player is ideal and it's the best solution on any platform period.
