Personally, one of the reasons I like having linux is b/c its a nice refreshing change from the contant busy feeling that windows has. It's not the only reason I use it, tho. And if ur getting problems with choosing between windows and linux, choose both (dual boot)

yes, it does; install windows first, then install red hat linux, and theres the boot option when ur installing (I don't remember exactly how to do it, but its very easy, and i think its self-explanatory when u get there so its easy to set up)

I totaly agree Xenocrates. It is a break from the Norm, I have to use XP daily @ work and get sick of it. Thats why im toying with Macs and Linux. I'm hoping to set up a lil web server in Fedora as a project (if anyone has any Docs on that, i'd appreciate it) It just works for me.

The dual boot thing is really easy. All u do is set your computer to boot from the CD drive, put the linux CD in the drive. And just follow the instructions, there will be a little box saying to you want to keep old OC or something like that.......

linux is open source to the max, if there is something you dont like about it, read a few man pages and fix it to your liking, total control unlike m$ where you have to dig deep to work **** out....sigh and linux is free and 99% of its software is free....free=good

Why use cable/dsl/t1 over dial-up? IT'S FASTER
Why use a 3 bladed razor over one with 2 blades? IT'S SMOOTHER
Why drive a porsche over a bus? IT'S FASTER AND LESS BLOATED
Why put a lock on your door? IT'S MORE SECURE

Why run linux? SEE REASONS ABOVE
My own, humble opinion

Linux for one thing is free. That is a huge plus. You don't have to worry about losing your serial or getting Microsofts dumb activation to work. Also if you ever plan on running any type of server there is no comparison. With Window's IIS you have to deal with worms. Linux has almost no worms. It is immensly more secure. In adition you get the operating sytem AND every program you will ever need to use. In Windows you end up spending $500 on software. (Office, Visual Studio, ect).
