Default what's the difference

what's the difference between i386, i586, and i686? i always wondered this, never figured it out...

architecture, 586 is pentium 1,2 and amd k6-2,3 series

686 is athlon,duron,pent4 etc

before those were 286,386, and 486 based on the intel 80X86 series of cpu's and support chips

another question. is there any place where i can download debian as a dvd image? it would be a major pain downloading and burning 7 cd images (from linuxiso.org)
