Default What is the linux command for download in ssh?

I connected to a comp running kernel 2.4 in through ssh. I logged in using a user and what not. I can see the files. Without using the files interface, what is the linux command to download a file?

Do you not have FTP available to you?

What kind of server is it? (IE hosting, game server, your own)

Question

ok... from windows you can use ssh (secure shell transfer) to log into a computer running linux. From that connection you can dl things that you have permmision to access on that user on the linux comp.
so because im directly connected, or logged into his comp, i can use nix commands like ls, cat, dir, cd, etc. The dls are based on ftp and I can view the files in the ssh ftp tranfer program, but I want to know the command line command

Does anyone out there know the command for download?

thanks again!
