Default What distro can be ran as a bootable OS?

I was reading around and I saw there was a distro of linux that can boot from CD and operate as an OS (Without having to install it on your HD) Does anyone know which distro this is?? (Or is it just someones dream?)

Thanks,

PHLAK and Knoppix STD both boot off of a live CD.

Only reason I know this is I'm attempting to learn a little bit about linux using these two distros. Trying to get an old POS computer up and running to install fedora on.
