that is my 6.10 config, im trying to get higer resolutions before i try for beryl

I have beryl installed on my 6.06 machine

Oh. Yeah, like I said you need to install the FGLRX drivers. Once you do that, adding resolutions in the config should work. I didn't know the ati driver was so useless.

Is that a fairly straight forward install, .deb, apt-get, or what
