Default upgrade breezy badger

i've been running ubuntu breezy badger for a while now and would like to upgrade to the new version.

Is this easy enough without complete reconfiguring. Also is it worth doing.

My system is very stable at the moment and does everything i need it to... so is the upgrade worth the while.. maybe it'll improve speed ??

Skuzzle,

I tried the 6.06 version this afternoon, what a load of Garbage. It is the Same as 5.10 exept it has an option to install from Live CD.

You wouldn't have to do a whole bunch of Reconfiguration, all you have to to is add the Dapper sources to your /etc/apt/sources.list

Follow these Steps:

Open terminal and type (as root):

sudo nano /etc/apt/sources.list

And change all the "hoarys" you see to "dapper"

Then press ctrl+o and then ctrl+x (thats saves and exits nano)

Then do

sudo apt-get update
sudo apt-get dist-upgrade

that should do it

But NO it is not worth the effort 6.06 is EXACTLY the same as 5.10, plus doing the procedure above Doesn't work from what I've Read.... you'd be better off D/L it or ordering some pressed CDs from Ubuntu Shipit.

But I would hold off for a while (or change Distros) untill/if the bugs are fixed

if you don't belive me that this distro sucks

Enjoy,

Here's the difference between 6.0.6 and 5.10.

Newer, less stable versions of every piece of software. There are two things you will benefit from and thats Xorg 7 and Gnome 2.14.2 (I think? Maybe is 2.14.1, dunno.)

With Xorg 7, you'll be able to get those wobbly windows (http://www.novell.com/linux/xglrelease/) and Gnome 2.14.x has some cool new features like sticky window edges and all that jazz. (Okay, here comes some "KDE has had that for ages!" )

Haha, own3d.

Actually I like the way KDE behaves more than Gnome, in that respect. But KDE still hurts my eyes.

You can upgrade through the update manager. (System-Administration->Update Manager) Click check for new updates and then click upgrade to 6.06.
It will improve speed and for me, stability. I find it much better than breezy.

-This is not a Ubuntu bashing thread by the way.
