Default Ugrading with a Disk

Ok well I've got ubuntu 8.04 installed and theres another ubuntu 8.04 i wana try. it's called Ubuntu 8.04 studio. How can i upgrade using the disk to install the newer things but i keep all of my old files? is this possible or will i loose data from my old Ubuntu 8.04?

If theres a better way to get these extra's I'll go for that too. I'm not to familiar with installing programs that i download so.... if i do end up having to download something could you please show me how to get it installed and goin?

Much thanks

Ubuntu Studio is just Ubuntu with those apps installed already. So find out what apps it has and just google on how to install them.

Cheers,
Mak
