Default Ubuntu Networking

I recently installed Ubuntu, and when it was installing I selected "Configure DHCP Network Later" and now I cant figure out how to make it detect and use the onboard ethernet. I am an Ubuntu first-timer.

check out the Unofficial Ubuntu User Guide. It might help. http://ubuntuguide.org/

if you need to use the terminal at any time, ubuntu can be confusing for previous linux users, instead of using the < su - > command to become root user, you need to use sudo < command > passpword.

Okay, thanks, I'll check that out. By the way, I should have said first timer to Linux also.

That site helped, but how do I find the MAC adress of my ethernet card? In the Network Tools menu it says "Hardware Adress: Unknown."
