Default ubuntu installation

I want to install ubuntu so that I may be able to dual boot with windows I download the image file and burned it to the cd. the pc gives me an error message when ever I'm booting up. Or the logo will come up if I am in windows and then it wont do anything. What's wrong?

Hello,

Did you use the HTTP method to download? Did you check the MD5 sum to make sure that you had the full ISO. Did you burn the ISO or extract it then burn it?

Did you burn it as an image? Or did you just 'throw it on there'?

I burned it as an image using alcohol 120 and downloaded it straight from the web site using the browser down load console. How can I check to see if I have the full iso?

Hello,

On the Ubuntu download page they have the MD5Sum info right there. Have to get a MD5sum checker and make sure your MD5 sum id the same as the one they show for you to make sure you have the full ISO.
