Default Ubuntu dual boot problem

Hi, I decided i'd go ahead and give linux a try after a while of wanting to. So i finally got around to doing it. Today I actually reformatted my whole hdd since it was rather cluttered and xp was having some issues every once in a while with booting, so i decided it'd be a good time to try out linux. So i first reformatted putting xp on first. After I put xp on first I then proceeded to putting ubuntu on. I got it all installed, and now it only boots in xp. that grub menu thing doesn't even come up. so could someone help me out, thanks in advance. Gavin.

How to install Grub from a live Ubuntu cd. - Ubuntu Forums

That will be your best way. Reinstall teh GRUB menu with the Ubutnu LiveCD.

You will have to look for the Restricted Driver. Should be under Tools>Administration.

okay, i did get the graphics drivers to work. now i've realized that i don't have any audio. My computer is hooked up to my receiver via an optical cable, therefore i need digital output. My motherboard has onboard audio. here is the link to the motherboard I have.

well, i figured it out on my own. i went to realteks website and found a linux download. so i installed it and had to unmute the channel
