I ran it off the cd and you need all these plugins just to listen to mp3s. is anyone else experiencing this? Also is dualbooting ubuntu 7 10 and windows vista easy? easy to get rid of w/o wrecking vista if I decide to get rid of it?

Yes, Ubuntu doesn't ship with any Mp3 codecs. Evidently there's some legal complications with codecs by default, but I'm not sure.

Anyway, here's how you get Mp3 codecs and many other that you might need.

sudo apt-get install ubuntu-restricted-extras

sudo apt-get install gstreamer0.10-plugins-base gstreamer0.10-plugins-good gstreamer0.10-plugins-bad gstreamer0.10-pitfdll

the player automatically sent me 2 a thing where I can download the codecs but I didn't bother yet since I am just running off the cd.

I'm downloading Xubuntu 7.10 at the moment. Upgrading from 5.04.

Download speed is terrrrrrrrible, alot of people must be downloading it.

It took me less than 10 mins through torrents

the codecs won't even download, it says something like this codec is not supported on this hardware on this platform x86
