Default Ubuntu 6.10 wireless

I am really frustrated because i had to do this whole run-around to get wireless working in 6.06 and now I'm getting new problems in 6.10.

Belkin F5D7050

I installed the latest ndiswrapper and network-manager, succefully installed the rt73.inf driver that came on the cd (the only one documented to work) and it says hardware present, but the light on it does not flash, and when i click on the network-manager icon in the corner of the screen it shows; wired network(***my ethernet card ***) and below it; wired network(unknow usb vendor) and it only shows the unknown usb vendor when it is plugged in. and in the device manager it sows all of the appropriate info but it also says 'device type:unknown'

what do i need to do to get it working?
