I tried installing it, but it hangs at "starting partitioner..."
I guess I have too many hard disks.

Is there any distro that includes many different window managers and desktop environments? I used to have SuSE 7.0 Professional, which came on 5 discs or so, and it had like 7 different window managers, including Enlightenment. Dont want to install all window managers manually to check them out.

How many harddrives do you have? I have 5 and it worked fine for me. I didn't USE the partitioner, but I got to where I could use it.

3 hard disks and 3 atapi devices. How can you not use the partitioner? It is included in the installation procedure.
Maybe you used default settings, but at least it loaded the partitioner without hanging on your computer.

Maybe a bad burn? I had that happen to me when I used the RC of Edgy a few weeks ago. I re burned it and it worked fine.

I didn't install, I just booted to Ubuntu 6.10 to see if the partitioner would startup and it did, then I quit the installer.

Oh, ok. Well, mine didn't load at all. It stopped at 50% and stayed there for at least 30 minutes, then I closed it. Didn't want to wait for hours.
Maybe I had a bad burn. I already deleted the ISO, not gonna try it again.

My network quit working and modprobe's not fixing it.

I hate Edgy so much right now.

Just days before the release of Edgy Eft on Thursday, Ubuntu founder Mark Shuttleworth has announced that the next version of Ubuntu Linux, to be released on 19 April 2007, will be named Feisty Fawn....

Read more Here: http://www.tectonic.co.za/view.php?id=1229

As for 6.10, when I was reading an early reveiw of the distro, the reveiwer said that they were replacing the Apt-get package manager with somthing called the SMART package manager which didn't make it into this release thank goodness!

it has also become apparent that Ubuntu has tried to progess into a 'bleeding Edge distro' where everything works, this is not so. which is apparent from this reveiw: http://www.linux.com/article.pl?sid=06/10/26/1552208
But not everything HAS to work, this is what the ubuntu team seem to be missing. part of the responsibilty for the maintenence of the system MUST be the users responsibility

The point of this post? there is a very fine line between a leading Edge distro and a Bleeding edge distro and ubuntu seems (to me at least) to be very close to the latter

seems ok at the minute. The update failed and broke my PC so i've started fresh (that sucks) and the nvidia drivers are no good on this new version if you have dual screen using xinerama... it breaks the terminal somehow.. so im having to use the old ****e nv drivers for a while till thats fixed.

I suggest (seriously) that you all hold off on updating to 6.10 for a month or two so all the big bugs can be worked out. 6.06 will still be supported for at LEAST that long.
