You need to check the Ubuntu Forums and see if they have a fix for you NIC card. The drivers are not isntalled for it. Have to see if htey have them available. Or check the network connections to make sure the drivers are installed. If so it is a different issue.

Have you configured the network? Is the driver of your NIC installed? Go to System->Administration->Network and check if your NIC is listed. If so click on Properties and configure your network.

| Hey mak, yeah i received the cd, but i dont want to go through the trouble of rebooting. But in this case i just pop the cd in and install rite? Hey mak, it worked- but i only ran it from the cd & i didnt install. And the net did work. .But now how do i install it over my exisiting installation of ubuntu 7.10?. I think i used wubi or something to dual boot with xp in the first place. Any ideas as to how to do this without skrewn up my win xp files and folders?

Hello, Ubuntu:Hardy - Check the Wiki from Ubuntu dedicated directly to HArdy (The name for 8.04). It will be of great help on your journey. Cheers, Mak

I don't recommend wubi. There are many people complaining on the web tha wubi doesn't work. If I'm not mistaken if you boot Ubuntu 7.10 and then insert the Ubuntu 8.04 on your cd player the system will say that you have inserted a system cd and if you want to use it as a repositorie. Say yes and run the System->Administration->Update Manager. If not you can configure your NIC. On the menu I've mentioned before click on the wired connection, then properties, disable the roaming mode and enable the DHCP, or configure the static ip.
