Default turn off GUI Login

I'm running a two year old RedHat on a server and recently replaced the monitor with an olderone. It produced a graphics issue and nothing displays on the screen even though the server is running just fine. I'd like to just turn off the GUI login and boot to a command line. I don't want to waste a good monitor on the closet server. Anyone here know of a quick fix?

Look at the start-up scripts and remove the line that contains;
startx

This will prevent the x-window-environment from loading and leave you with a console login

Startx, starts the X-server once you are logged in. I needed a console instead of graphical login. I found the answer of changing the init state to 3 by changing the line in /etc/inittab to "id:3:initdefault:" Too many OS's to remember, I should have known this...
