The preinstall drivers, they have software that automatically recognizes hardware when you plug it in. It's this kind of stuff that makes them popular, that makes computer companies like Dell want Windows preloaded on their machines... it's ease of use. When people don't know what they're missing, they think they have the best. Even Macs (while a much better OS imho) are slightly more complicated for first time computer users. I dont think Windows is going away anytime soon... they roll with the punches and change with the times.. .they have a good formula for business. Billy aint a billionaire because he's dumb.
After saying that, I am working on moving my life to Linux. I'm still a total newbie to Linux, but to me, compared to windows, it's like finding a true love after being with a fallback girlfriend for too long! I'm trying to get my friends on it too, but some just want something that works out of the box and that they dont have to mess with. And this is the Windows user mentality... some people just dont like computers as much as we do!! :beard: |
no no no, everything works because windows is bundled on all new computers, if a computer vender decides to bundle linux on their new line of computer, you will see linux running flawlessly..
I don't really care for hardware support (Well i do, but if i can make it work, i don't care that much).. main reason i moved to unix because of superior lisp compiler..
As Operating System moves slower, we can see the trend in programming languages.. which ever one makes the programmer's life easier by been laconic and flexible, it will remain.. Cobol dropped off mainstream because programmers have to type too much, java will drop sooner or later mainly because of it's reliance on a single style of programming..
windows is not more flexible than unix, and with the flow of time, it will drop in favor of unix, as the general population grow more educated about computers (as the older non-techies die..)
