Try looking into the Atmel WLAN driver and Ndiswrapper.
http://atmelwlandriver.sourceforge.net/
-and-
http://ndiswrapper.sourceforge.net/

The first is a Linux driver for Atmel-based WLAN USB devices, and the second lets you use Windows drivers for your WLAN card. Check the compatibility lists to see if this card is known to work.

Ok I downloaded ATmelwlandriver-3.4.0.2.tar.bz2. How do I install these drivers? Sorry for asking, but the explanations are REALLY confusing, as I am a newbie and never took a class in computer science/programing or linux.

I don't have an answer for your problem but will offer some advice. Read, read and read some more about Linux, particularly about the distro that you plan on using. Get yourself familiar with the different terms, the file structure, the different package management systems, everything.

Without knowing the very basics Linux will be very frustrating and will turn many people off from ever using it again. Researching and taking the time to understand Linux and its differences from Windows will go a long way into helping you along. In time you will begin to see that things that confused the **** out of you at first will soon seem so logical you can't understand how you ever did it "another" way.

I've included some links to help get you going. Linux can be a very rewarding experience or it can be an absolute ****, it all depends on how you approach it.

I would also suggest the Live CD of Ubuntu to help you get more familiar with it.

Take your time and relax, you'll enjoy your Linux experience much more.

I have to agree with with tribalsun the only thing holding back the current windows users is there own lazyness if you take the time and really go from site to site you'll learn what you need to know about linux and if you don't then I am shure that if you read enough you'll be able to write your own distro...LOL

www.ubuntuguide.org

and this: www.ubuntuforums.org/

I'm a newbie too and this really helped me alot... the forums mostly, but before discovering the guide I was searching for alot of the things that are listed on there with google... the ubuntuguide is priceless.

i always had a lot of problem with ndiswrapper, i eventually shelled out a few bucks for driverloader[do a search, i forget the url]...it was a few bucks well spent cause within a minute i had my wifi adapter working, as opposed to the days of dependency issues and whatnot i had with ndiswrapper.

if anything i just said wasn't relevant to this conversation, sorry i haven't slept in many many many many hours. i thought i saw something about ndiswrapper and wifi.

Well you are mistaking Windows users remain becuase everything works they can play games and get support, they have drivers, and are adapted only to windows.

I am using linux now only becuase I got ****ed off at Windows not being able to set my power management settings but I'm going back right away when I get ahold of Vista Beta 1 as it decects my power management better (PSU driver?)
