well, i seem to have messed something up when i created my original user, i just created a new user and everything started just fine.. but this is what i got when using my original one...

$ startx
xauth: timeout in locking authority file //.Xauthority
xauth: timeout in locking authority file //.Xauthority

after a couple times of that it started KDE, but i got a ton of error messages saying i didn't have access to the /home directory

slackware comes with two ways to make new users while in the commandline, use adduser, the normal useradd program requires that you create the other files by hand

what happened was when you created the new user the first time there wasnt an Xauthority file or an xinitrc file in that users home directory,so X wouldnt start properly
