ok i have installed ubuntu7. something, i forget the version off hand lol, um i open up terminal and when i type the following:
alextrzaska@alex-desktop:~$ sudo apt-get update
Password:
alextrzaska@alex-desktop:~$

and yes i typed the correct password in, but it doesnt do anyhting, then i type this to
alextrzaska@alex-desktop:~$ sudo apt-get install linux-restricted-modules-$(uname -r) #Okay if it is already installed
alextrzaska@alex-desktop:~$

and as u see, it still does nothing, wat do i need to do to make it work so it can dl stuff and wat not, help?

Have you repositories added? Type "cat /etc/apt/sources.list" on terminal.
You can also use the Synaptic, the GUI of apt-get. System->Administration->Synaptic Package Manager
