Hey i was just wondering if there was anyway in which i could stop or restrict a root user from modifying and/or deleting a file which i want to store in any Linux system. i tried fiddling with the permissions of the file but it was in vain.
as always any help is sincerely appreciated!!

I'm pretty sure that root users can access any file with full permissions...that's why they're root users. You could try editing the sudo list (assuming your version of Linux uses it) by doing "sudo visudo" on a terminal.

Usually, I try to do the opposite, I have a blocked distro and I want to have full permissions to all files without passwords, so I use the visudo thing to turn off sudo password so I can open admin apps without that annoying "Enter Password" dialog.

thanks for the visudo help. i never knew about it. but still i am not able to use it to my advantage. i tried creating a new user and assigning him root privileges through the sudoers file however i was not able to.
my basic problem still remains unsolved as to stop the root from accessing 'one' particular file which i have stored on the system.
is there any other way?
