Default sound in mono ??

It seems weird to want to do that, but it happens that I am deaf on one ear and cannot hear in stereo. Each time I use headsets I just hear one side.

Now, I have been looking around in Linux (or Windows for that matter (: ...)
and could never find a tool allowing for mixing left and right channels and play the sound in mono. Anybody has an idea ??

Thanx

Philippe

You shouldn't miss any part of the song. Most stereo recordings have almost the same output on both channels. You could try Winamp and see if it has an option though.

Yep, I know the parts are "almost" the same. However, the balance of each instrument is not. This what creates the stereo effect.
Well, it is not crucial but It would make me feel more satisfied.

Thx

You cannot experience a stereo effect with one ear. Well, maybe with a dolby surround headphone, but I am not sure.

Well, I do know that :-( . What I am trying to get is the equivalent of what my ear hears when it is between 2 speakers. The problem occurs only with a headset really.

I know what you mean. I just checked my Winamp and I cannot find an option for mono. But there might be a plugin for it. There are millions of plugins available for Winamp. www.winamp.com

I don't know about Windows Media Player.
