Default Smoothwall + wireless networking?

I'm thinking about running smoothwall linux on an older computer of mine and I wanna know if I can connect wireless computers onto it.

If there's a certain wireless card I need I'll buy it.

So I'm guessing you don't have a wireless card yet.

Yes, there are certain ones that work natively under Linux and those would be best to get. Let me see if I can find a list of them somewhere...

EDIT: Found a good list of chipsets that work, but not a card list. Still helpful though.

That is fine.

You should be able to get wireless working fine (make sure it has native drivers). Once wireless is set up, you can problably just point your outgoing card in the smoothwall config to wlan0 (or what ever it is).

Does the smoothwall router need to have a wireless card or does the switch need wireless?

You don't really need a switch if you put the wireless on the server. I think you just need to setup a dhcp server (I believe). Check out http://community.smoothwall.org/forum/

Have you considered IpCop? I have heard it is more up to date.

What's a dhcp server? I really just wanna set this up for my house. People said I could hook up a wireless router in place of a switch to get wireless networking.
