I'm using it right now and only have had a few problems. I started with 10.1 and I just recently installed 10.2
The only other linux like distro I've used is FreeBSD, so I really can't compare them.

The great thing about Slackware is Pat Volkerding doesn't customise any of the software, whereas distro's like Fedora heavily modify the kernel for example Pat doesn't, I feel slackware is really what Linux is about a collection of software and utilities made by different people put together to make one system.

However that also means there are no distro specific config utilities, all system configuration needs to be done by editing text files and working on the terminal. If your looking for a replacement for Windows then look elsewhere.

I currently use Slackware on my server, but that installation is starting to get out of date, I'll not be updating Slackware but moving onto FreeBSD, however if I was to carry on using Linux then only Slackware will do

I used Slackware for a while, it's the most stable thing I have ever put on my computer however it lacks alot of the fancy feel that I like in Linux.

It also lacks in ease for first time users, so if you are relativley new to Linux...beware because it's not the easiest distro out there (nor is it the hardest).

If you're looking for a distro that combines the simple elegance of slackware with ease of use then I would highly recommend the soho edition of Vector Linux. It's a very fast optimized version of slackware with some gui configuration utilities ideal for people new to 'nix. The soho edition will install a kde desktop and even attempt to configure X for you. Package management is handled by gslapt, a gui frontend to slapt-get.
