Could I use SUSE LINUX 10.1? What free linux server software could i use? Would you recommend Xandros Standard Server?

I do not recomment SUSE to ANYONE. It's not worth it.

The two I recommend are Ubuntu Server (for starters) or Debian Etch (for not-so-starters.) Both use excellent package managers (APT/DEB) and can be twisted any which way you want.

I would also recommend Debian for a server OS.

I am also here to back Debian up.

I use it in a production environment (small forum, ventrilo, cs: source), apt is an absolute saint.
