Default Replacing CPU

Have a Pentium 4 2.26GHz CPU, and I am using red hat enterprise linux 4 (update 3). Would like to change my CPU to Pentium 4 2.5GHz. Will I ever have a problem with my redhat if I change my CPU? I'm doubting to change it because it might have an error like kernel panic.

Thank you very much

Regimon,

That'd be the first I've heard of a system crashing because of upgrading a CPU. as long as all your components are compatible you should be fine. Backup your data just in case though.

linux doesnt care, heck you can change motherboards, chipsets, and even to a different brand of CPU and as long as the kernel has the appropriate modules linux wont care
