Default Redhat Linux 8 install problem

any Linux-oriented, kind-hearted person out there, i definitly need yur help. i just bought a Redhat Linux 8 cd set.

1. i tried booting my newly formatted PC on Redhat Linux 8.

2. i chose the graphical mode.

3. i skipped media test, and proceeded to install.

4. of course it asked me what my language, keyboard, mouse, timezone, and computer function preference were just like any OS will do.

5. i chose to automatically partition my hard drive and chose to remove all existing partitions on my disk. partition done.

6. it began reading package contents and it had just begun copying files when it displayed an error message that it could not find a particular file on the disk. if i am not mistaken it was about the ("mnt/source/.discinfo"). i think this is common problem with this redhat version.

7. i tried to save the bug script to a floppy to be send to redhat. i cannot attach that file here because it is too big.

anyway i had formatted my hard drive three times becoz of this and its tiring. please help.

if files are "missing" i.e. corrupted on one of your install disks, write back to the company your purchased your set from and they will send you out another. it could have been caused during the cd recording process, during shipment or just a bad download. stuff like this happens all the time. another way to get around this would be to select the bare minimum to install redhat, see if you can get just the os to install. then select the extra packages later on.
