Default RealPlayer (Helix) on Solaris?

I get all kinds of errors trying to install the latest version of Real on Solaris. I can't seem to find installation instructions via google. Anyone have some tips?

Thanks.

This is what I found on Google. Which version of Solaris are you using, and on which platforum? (x86, Alpha, etc)

Oh, and this should be moved to the Linux section.

Thanks for the reply. I'm running version 10 on the SPARC platform. I'll take a look @ that page. It was a binary, not source, that I found on the latest Real page.

Yeah, couldn't decide if this belonged in audio or Un*x. Sorry for the miscategorization.

As far as I know, Real only released an x86 version for it. And it's not OSS so you'd have to find an alternative. I'm sure the codecs exist for SPARC but I'm not too knowledgable about Solaris or SPARC.

No, there is a SPARC version (https://player.helixcommunity.org/2004/downloads/), I just get a bunch of cryptic errors when I run it.

Thanks for your reply.

Crazy, you can get the source too. Have you tried building from source?

Hhhm...haven't tried yet. I will give that a shot, though the binary would (in theory ) be a lot easier.

Thanks.
