Default Questions about ubuntu and kubuntu.

Helloe everyone.
My friend showed me ubuntu the other day and I was captivated by it.
I was wondering how ubuntu and/or kubuntu handles gaming?
Also,
How easy is it to have ubuntu or kubuntu installed and dual boot OS?
So that i can use XP when I need to

How to dual boot Windows XP and Linux (XP installed first) -- the step-by-step guide with screenshots

K/Ubuntu don't do games very well, unless they're supported under WINE (program on Linux used to install some Windows programs; does a pretty good job).

Yeah, I personally prefer to dual boot. I use XP as my gaming OS, and Ubuntu for everything else. If I had the choice, I'd be in Ubuntu 247 and would never touch XP. But I like my CS Source.

I triple boot on my laptop, with Vista, Ubuntu, and Kubuntu.

That sicks.
Why would you want all three of them ?

random question. my friend who was showing me ubuntu had windows XP running in a "digital box" and his GPU and CPU were burning up..the GPU was around 81C and his CPU was 60C's on his laptop. WAs this aubuntu thing or because he was running both operatin systems along with other programs ?

It was probably because he was using a laptop there cooling isnt the best when it's running a browser an a text editor. A VM will kill most laptops prity quick, when i am running a VM of unbuntu or FreeBSD7 i can get my macbook prity toasty.

So basicly yhea it was a mix of two things 1) it was a laptop 2) it was running a guest OS at the time.

I'll answer your question with a question and a statement:

a) Why wouldn't I want all three of them?
b) Because I can .

Just wanted all three of them on there...no particular reason except to check out both GNOME (Ubuntu) and KDE (Kubuntu), as well as keep my Vista install.

PATHETIC! ONLY 3 OS'es? Come on, what is this, 2007? Nah, the days of triple booting are long gone.

Quad boot FTW!

I have Vista 64, XP 32, Mac OSX 10.5.2, and Ubuntu 8.10 64 on my HP laptop.

Not enough room on my laptop's HDD, otherwise I'd add another linux distro in there .
