Default Program installation on PCBSD

I am totally clueless as to how to operate this new OS that I'm using. Windows wasn't available to me, neither distro of linux was installing on the machine I was trying to get running, so Nezarri on here pointed me to PCBSD. I was trying to install wine, and low and behold, installations are tedious compared to microsoft's 'click the autorun' type of installation. I'd love to learn, but can someone point me toward a place where I can simply learn to install a program on PCBSD?

It doesn't get any easier than this, just download what you want and double click to install

that's where I got my programs initially... I'm moving them from windows on my machine onto my flash drive, then putting the drive into the BSD system. I'm trying to install it from there and it's not happening...

Sounds like windows is corrupting your pbi's during the copying process. This is a common problem caused by windows not recognising 'nix file formats and copying binary files as text. The normal solution is to tar (or zip) the files before transfer and untar after. If your copies on windows are already corrupt then you'll have to download again.
