Default Problems with Nvidia drivers in Ubuntu

Talking about drivers... I'm using the nvidia as well, and Ubuntu... no problem about installing the nvidia drivers and everything works great, but only one flaw: I always need to change the resolution to 1600x1200 manually! I've tried running nvidia-settings as root and overwrites the xorg-config, and I can edit it and everything is fine, but the next day when i reboot the login screen is 1600x1200 but then when my desktop loads it's at 1115x864, I've searched around if there was any settings I've missed but I can't find any. How to I get my desktop (i'm running gnome) to display at 1600x1200 automatically?
