Default Picture files on Linux server

Before I go into detail let me explain my setup:

2 computers, both plugged into the same 2Wire modem
1st computer (see sig)
2nd computer is setup as a FTP server running SUSE 10.1

I just learned how to set up a server and I wanted to play around a bit. First thing I did was transfer a *.JPG file onto the server from Windows. Then I re-downloaded it onto Windows, and I also had a friend elsewhere do the same onto her machine. However, neither of us can open the file. Irfanview gave me this error:

Bogus DHT Index 11

It obviously has something to do with going back and forth between Windows and Linux (they never were meant to work together by any means). Is there any way to get around this/solve this? Has anyone else had this problem?

Thanks in advance.

horndude is on a distinguished road

Default

ftp problem, probably happened when you put the file into the linux box from windows, try switching the ftp transfer mode to ascii instead of binary, or vice a versa
