ubuntu dapper is the only distro that has worked for me straight out of the box. i didn't have to configure X, i didn't have to install any drivers or hassle with anything to get my wireless working

the installer is a breeze, it's done in 20 minutes with no effort at all. i agree that it's not an experienced linux user's distro, but i think it's perfect for a beginner, or just an everyday user

i think Linux is not bad at all. especially the new version of open office for linux. it's almost the same with windows office. it's free though it requires bigger memory. offers better security and if you get accustomed, it;s also user-friendly.
