linux os's are good because they are largely bug free, less bloatware, most are faster. think of it this way. Ubunto has a few programs preinstalled. beyond those very few basic programs, there's nothing. it's a clear cut, fresh UI. you are free to change the source code, add whatever looks, add whatever features you want. and most of those linux features and other programs are also free source! the only problem with linux os's is that there are some compatibility issues with some games. personally though, Linux is the ultimate, and if i had time to dedicate to it right now, I'd be running that instead of windows

Those compatibility issues are quickly becoming a thing of the past. Between ScummVM, DosBox, and WINE (which has developed very well over the past few years) many games run on Linux pretty well. I don't think it'll be much longer before that ceases to become an issue.

I use linux because it's free, it's more secure and stable, I can do my daily tasks as well as in windows, but with free software, and uses less hardware resources. So, according to my needs, there is no need to pay for a OS if there is a free one that satisfies almost all my needs.

The major problem with linux it's the hardware compatibility, but it's manufacturers fault because they don't implement the hardware drivers for linux.

It's unfortunate that WINE is needed at all. Friggin' game developers...

Part of the problem is that the linux market isn't big enough to warrant setting up an entire division to create a linux port of the game, or even a native linux version. It's kind of like a strange circle.

People want to use Linux, but can't cause their game doesn't work on it.
Developers want to develop for linux, but can't because it isn't feasible monitarily.

That isnt really a good arguement. They develop games for OS X. It doesnt gain them much monitarily that way either yet they do it.
