Default Order Ubuntu 6.06 by ShipIt

Ubuntu is a good Linux distribution. It can be download freely, and it can be mail to your home by ShipIt free of charge.

Last time, I ordered Ubuntu 5.10. It took about 52 days to my home.

This time they provide up to 10 CDs. I think they know the 64bit machine is not so popular, so that provide max. one 64-bit PC verison CD only per shipment.

I ordered 10 Ubuntu CDs including 8 PC Edition, 1 64-bit PC Edition, 1 Mac Edition. I will give some PC Edition to my friends.

Because I want a PC edition and a 64-bit PC edition, and I don't want to make two orders to waste money. I order the last one.

They said it will begin shipping in early June. Once shipping starts, it can take up to 6 weeks for you to receive delivery.

Waiting, waiting, waiting.

Update: The Kubuntu is also open to make orders. Kubuntu ShipIt.https://shipit.kubuntu.org/
Edubuntu - Educational edition

davidyin,

thank you so much for the Kubuntu and Edubuntu Shipit Links, Kubuntu is one of the Best Distros Out there, Edubuntu isn't too bad either it is good to see that developers are aiming distros at koids to help promote opensource. I might even order some Ubuntu CDs and write a reveiw (which I do from Time to time, Written about 5 or six now)

I hope you enjoy the Linux Experience, good to have you on our side

Jake

IIRC, all of the config tools are reconfigured for QT and not GTK.

Also, if you prefer KDE over GNOME and use Ubuntu, then you also have to delete all of GNOME, which just wastes time.

I am just advised that the Ubuntu has another distros, Xubuntu.
Xubuntu is shipped with top quality packages from the Ubuntu archives. Xubuntu will use, as far as possible, GTK2 applications, ensuring maximum efficiency. If you wish, you can install any KDE or GNOME application on your Xubuntu desktop system, as it shares the Ubuntu main and universe package selection.

For that matter, there is also Ubuntu server where no DE is installed and then you really have a choice. (Xubuntu comes with XFCE)

Actually it is: apt-get install kubuntu-desktop. If you want Kubuntu's default set of programs, that is.
