Default OpenOffice vs Word (I have a problem)

I have OO and MS Word, and I use OO predominantly.

I have a large .doc file, approximately 60 some pages long. Throughout the report, I have a few pages that serve as title pages, and what I do with them is just press enter up until it reaches the 4.5" mark of the page, type whatever I have to, then enter all the way to a new page.

When I do it on MS Word, it's fine.

However, when I open it in OO, it shows on the page previous (same page as the title page).

Here's the picture: http://snaphat.com/~pratik/pic.bmp

As you can see, on the left page, it's just supposed to be the title in the middle. However, the text in the bottom IS NOT supposed to be on that page... and it's not when you open it with MS Word, but it is there when you open with OO.

Why is there a difference?

Default

its a .doc file, because microsoft hasnt been very forthcoming about releasing proprietary info about their formats they have to be reverse engineered, OO apparently hasnt gotten it quite right just yet

there are also more than one format or version of microsoft .doc files
