Default OK need help with finding a distro.

I have got a EI3103 laptop an I have checked tuxmobile for a distro that would work out the box with my laptop and i have not found a match that would work with it.

I would love to get linux up an running on this laptop, so any one got any ideas?

Well that's the thing, on the lid it say's E-SYSTEM but it is also sold as a EI-system.

The spec's are:

512mb ram
80gb hard drive
Intel Celeron M440 1.86GHz

The model number is EI 3103

My best advice - try Ubuntu.

Try the Distro Chooser in my Sig, it asks you a series of questions, based on on your answers chooses a distro to suit your needs, here are my recomendations

Kubuntu
Kubuntu - The KDE Desktop

Mandriva
Mandriva One - Mandriva Linux

PCLinuxOS
PCLinuxOS

This is the distro I use and recommend, Why because it works right out of the box. No need to configure Everything, everything just works. It also comes as a 1 CD install that is a live CD that you can install later if you wish.

Mephis
MEPIS | discover the possibilities...

hope this Helps,

Jake

I would second the idea of using PCLinuxOS. Thats what I'm using right now.

Ubuntu is a great distro because there is so much support available for it. But when I first installed ubuntu fiesty fawn, it came with the bare minimum programs and tools. PClinuxOS came with alot more!

I have to say though, when it comes to wifi; linux is somewhat difficult to use. I had the hardest time getting wifi to work, and then finaly got it to work in ubuntu with the help of ubuntuforums.org, but thats just my thoughts.

Well then I would probably suggest Ubuntu, or a variation of Ubuntu. Mainly because of the amount of support you can get for it. What kind of card do you have? Is it internal?
